PASCHAL APPEAL 2011

Dear Reverend Fathers, Beloved Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

CHRIST IS RISEN!

"It is the day of Resurrection, and let us be enlightened by the Feast; let us embrace one another and say:"Brethren!" ( From the stichira of Pascha).

These wonderful words above, which are sang on Pascha with joy, remind us of how Our Saviour unites us all in the bright and radiant Feast of Feasts.  St. John Chrysostom emphasizes this point in his paschal homily:  "Wherefore, then, enter you all into the joy of your Lord; both the first and the second, receive you your reward. You rich and you poor, exult with one another." As we find oursekves in the midst of paschal joy, which St. John of Shanghai and San Francisco calls "a taste of paradisical joy", let us not forget our neighbors suffering from poverty and need.

We call upon you, dearly beloved, to help continue the works of mercy of our Memorial Fund in the name of St. John of Kronstadt by helping ease the burdens of the poor and needy during the Paschal season.  We ask you to not forget our fund, which is striving to aid all who are in need.  We express our appreciation and gratitude to everyone, who has supported our Memorial Fund over the years.  Your support is very dear to us all.

We congratulate all of you with the coming Feast of Feasts, Holy Pascha.  May Our Risen Lord fill all your days with Paschal joy and peace.

             Christ is Risen!

          With love in Christ,

Archpriest Michael Taratuchin, Vice-President of the Memorial Fund and Rector of the St. John of Kronstadt Memorial Church in Utica, New York, USA.

Our gratitude is expressed to everyone, who mailed in their donations to our St. John pf Kronstadt Memorial Fund over the Paschal season.  Thank you and may God bless you all for remembering those in need. In the Fund's bulletin, you can see where your donations are going. Many depend upon our help.

Please continue with your support. Also, if you are in our area, Utica or Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville, New York, please feel free to stop by our parish, the first in the world to be named in honor of St. John of Kronstadt. November 1st is our patronal feastday, as well as the nearesr Sunday (TBA). Please join us in honouring our Holy Righteous Father John of Kronstadt.

CHRISTMAS APPEAL 2011/12

"Today the Virgin giveth birth to Him Who is transcendent in essence, and the earth offereth a cave to Him Who is unapproachable" (From the Kontakion for Nativity of Christ).

Dearly Beloved Reverend Fathers, Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

CHRIST IS BORN! GLORIFY HIM!

The kontakion for the Nativity of Christ, which is annually sang both joyfully and triumphantly at this great feast, reveals to us the mystery concerning our salvation.  The Magi and Shepherds did not find just any child at the cave in Bethlehem, although this outwardly appeared to be so. They found the Christ-Child, the Creator and Saviour of the world, the God-Man.  This mystery would become clearer to true-believers according to St. Paul's letter to the Collosians (Col. 1:26).

In his Incarnation as the God-Man, Our Lord and God Jesus Christ brought us the greatest gift of all: salvation and eternal life.  Dsepite our daily struggles in life, Our Lord never leaves us. The Divine Liturgy itself reminds us that we should always give thanks to Almighty God for all the bounties and gifts he bestows upon us in life.  A great part of our spiritual lives consist of action in the virtues.  There are countless examples of of this in the lives of the saints, especially in the life our St. John of Kronstadt, whom we attempt to immitate in the good works of mercy.  We call upon you, dear Fathers, Brothers and Sisters, to help us in this holy labor of giving help and comfort to the poor and needy.  Join the Memorial Fund of St. John of Kronstadt either as a member or donor.

We heartily congratulate both you and all your loved ones on this Nativity, wishing you a most joyous Christmas and a blessed and happy new year of 2012.

Christ is Born!

With love in Our Incarnated Saviour,

                           Archpriest Michael Taratuchin.

Vice-President of the Memorial Fund and Rector of St. John of Kronstadt Memorial Church in Utica, New York, USA.

OUR GRATITUDE is expressed to everyone, who has kindly donated to our Memorial Fund over the Christmas and Paschal seasons. Thanks to your generosity, we are able to continue helping the destitute and needy around the world as well as our monasteries and parishes in need.  Please do not forget us and please help with your donations when you can so that we may continue the work began in 1954 by Archpriest George Pawlusik in the bringing of consolation to the needy. May Our Saviour always bless you all.

Below are a few photos from past events from January to June 2012.

NATIVITY APPEAL 2012/13

Dearly Beloved Reverend Fathers, Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

CHRIST IS BORN!  GLORIFY HIM!

“He hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows” (Isaiah Ch. 53)

The Holy Prophet Isaiah prophesied on the limitless love and compassion of Our Lord Jesus Christ for us. Out of love Our Lord created us and became incarnated in the flesh as the God-Man to give us eternal life and joy in the Heavenly Kingdom.

Our Lord passed on this love and compassion to his disciples and apostle, and they, in turn, to the saints, who continue to inspire us with their examples of how to live a life in Christ.  St. John of Kronstadt wonderfully describes this in his spiritual diary, “My Life in Christ”.

Our Memorial Fund has existed for 58 years in order to bring consolation to the poor and needy, doing so in imitation of our heavenly intercessor, St. John of Kronstadt, who daily and hourly served God, and never refusing to help anyone whom he encountered, needing his aid.

As we prepare for Our Lord's Nativity, let us remember God's gift to us: our salvation and eternal life.  Let us remember the great service of this holy pastor of Kronstadt, who lived his entire life as a great example of holiness and great kindness to all in the world, which lay in a state of sin.  The Lord is constantly calling each and everyone of us to such works of mercy and compassion to rescue others in need or in a state of sadness.

Nowadays, many young people are delving so deeply into their various earthly and material cares that they neglect works of mercy and charity with a spirit of indifference toward organizations like our own Memorial Fund, which exists for the sake of Christ.  Spiritual life, which is strengthened by works of mercy, give us a solid foundation both in spiritual and social life. “Faith without works is dead”, (Epistle of St. James).  Indifference is a dangerous modern malady, which is destructive. There are many examples of this today.  When a person neglects charity, he or she brings danger on their soul, which suffers from a spiritual void. Our true happiness, which we are always seeking, may found in service to others.

Please remember our Memorial Fund. Works of mercy are holy deeds.  We especially call upon any potential new members to our fund to join us in this holy labor of love.  It is not only our Memorial Fund, which depends upon members and donors, past, present and future, but especially those for whom the fund exists, the poor and needy around the world, whom the fund is helping for decades.

We thank all of our donors and benefactors over the years. We wish you all a blessed and joyous Christmas and spiritual fortitude, blessings and joy in the coming new year of 2013!

Christ is Born!

With much love in our Incarnated Saviour,

Archpriest Michael Taratuchin, Vice-President of the Memporial Fund and Rector of St. John of Kronstadt Memorial Church in Utica, New York, USA.

Please join us for our patronal feast day celebrations from the evening of the 31st October though the 3rd November 2013. On Friday 1st November and Sunday 3rd November 2013, His Grace, Bishop Peter of Cleveland, President of our St. John of Kronstadt Memorial Fund, will be the chief celebrant at both liturgies. Also, the Kursk-Root Icon of the Most Holy Theotokos will be visiting our parish in Utica, New York, at those times. Everyone is welcome!

NATIVITY APPEAL 2014/15

Dearly Beloved Reverend Fathers, Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

CHRIST IS BORN! GLORIFY HIM!

“Christ is born; glorify Him! Christ comes from heaven; go to meet Him! Christ is on earth; be exalted! Sing to the Lord, all the earth! And praise Him in gladness, O people, for He has been glorified!”

(Ode 1 of matins for Nativity)

Having entered the season of the Nativity Fast, the ode above is also the katavasia chanted at matins during the fast, and fills us with joy and awe together with the Angels, Magi and Shepherds, who glorified Our Saviour at the time of His birth and incarnation. How exactly do we fulfill the instructive words of the canon’s ode, “Glorify Him!”? Naturally in praise to Our Saviour for all His countless miracles and gifts to us, but hand in hand with this, we glorify God by our lives and our efforts in good works, remembering the words of the Holy Apostle James, “Faith without works is dead”, (James 2:20). Having triumphantly celebrated this past November 2014, the 50th Anniversary of the Glorification of our Holy Righteous St. John of Kronstadt and the 60th Anniversay of our Memorial Fund, we have much to be thankful for. Not only has Our Lord blessed us with material abundance in our lives, but has given us great heavenly intercessors and real life examples as may be found in our St. John of Kronstadt. We can repay this abundance given to us by rendering charity and kindness to those in need. Only with your continued help are we able to accomplish these goals of compassion. Not only do we ask you, dearly beloved, to send in your donations, but to also let others know of the existence of our Memorial Fund of St. John of Kronstadt, especially the younger generations of Orthodox faithful, who God-willing may continue these good works in years to come. As you prepare for the Great Feast of Our Saviour’s Nativity, please remember the poor and needy.

May Our Incarnated Lord, God and Saviour Jesus Christ bless you all and your loved ones as you celebrate Christmas, and may the New Year of 2015 bring you all many blessings.

CHRIST IS BORN! GLORIFY HIM!

With much love in Our Incarnated Lord,

Archpriest Michael Taratuchin, Vice-President of the St. John of Kronstadt Memorial Fund and Rector of the St. John of Kronstadt Memorial Church in Utica, New York, USA.

Paschal Appeal 2015

Hypakoe: When at dawn, the women with Mary came and found the stone rolled away from the sepulcher, they heard from the angel: Why seek among the dead (as if He were a mortal man) Him Who lives in everlasting light? Behold the grave-clothes. Run and tell the world that the Lord is risen, and has slain death. For He is the Son of God Who saves mankind.

(From Paschal Matins)

Dearly Beloved Reverend Fathers, Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

CHRIST IS RISEN!

When we walk around the church in procession on Pascha before midnight, we represent the Holy Myrrh-Bearers, who were the first to find the empty tomb of Christ and receive the joyful news from an angel in shining white garments that He is risen from the dead. Great joy came upon these Myrrh-Bearers as they received this angelic announcement, and it is this very same joy which we all annually experience on Pascha. Who were these Myrrh-Bearers? They were women who were dedicated in service to Our Lord, and who served him with all that they had, withholding nothing. With great risk to their lives, they ventured out on that very first Pascha, early in the morning to anoint Jesus’ body to find the tomb empty. Their roles were one of selfless service to Christ, and the same can be said of our Holy Righteous Father John of Kronstadt, whose life was one of endless service to Our Saviour and to all people whom he encountered and whoever approached him for help, spiritual and material. What can we say about ourselves in this regard? Most of us receive many blessings from God in the abundance of the good things we all enjoy in life. We have our church, our families and friends, and have been blessed to be materially content, even though we may at times face material struggles which occasionally arise, but for the most part, God sees to our daily needs as is conducive to our salvation. But what about others who have much less than we do? Let us remember that all that we have are gifts of God to use for a better purpose, and a great part of that is to help others in need. That is the reason why our St. John of Kronstadt Memorial Fund has existed over 60 years, and why it is important to keep our efforts going: to reach out to those in need worldwide throughout our Orthodox communities. It is only with your help that this can continue to be accomplished. Please do not be indifferent to the plight of those in need. Every donation you send is put to good use in helping the poor and needy. Please join us in helping the less fortunate than ourselves. What better way to give gratitude to Almighty God for all that He does for us every second of our lives? Please respond with your hearts, and join us in this service to Our Lord and to our brothers and sisters in need.

May Our Risen Saviour bless you and all your loved ones during Great Lent and Pascha.

With much love in Our Risen Lord,

                                   Archpriest Michael Taratuchin,

Vice-President of the St. John of Kronstadt Memorial Fund and Rector of the St. John of Kronstadt Memorial Church in Utica, New York, USA.

Nativity Appeal of the St.John of Kronstadt Memorial Fund 2016/ 17

"Thy Nativity, O Christ our God, shined the light of knowledge upon the world: for therein they that adored the stars were taught by a star to worship Thee, the Sun of righteousness, and to know Thee, the Dayspring from on high: O Lord, glory be to Thee." (Troparion of the Nativity of Christ) Dearly beloved, Reverend Fathers, Brothers and Sisters in Christ, CHRIST IS BORN! GLORIFY HIM! When the Magi first gazed upon the Christ-Child in the manger, they knew that this was no ordinary child born into the world. Their study of the stars and their following the star which shone over the cave at Bethlehem gave them every indication that this is God-incarnate. These wise men, Saints Melchior, Gaspar and Balthasar, having led pious lives, would be numbered among the saints. The live of the saints continue to inspire us to good deeds and to ascetically struggle for our salvation. The akathist to St.John of Kronstadt mentions how St.John served countless moliebens for people both in church and in the homes of people he often visited, bringing comfort to the poor and needy. He would also help the needy not only by organizing and gathering material aid, but would often give of his own personal resources, often returning home without his shoes. What is one of the greatest lessons we may learn from the Nativity season? We may learn mercy and almsgiving to the poor. Just as Our Saviour grants us life eternal, and as our St.John of Kronstadt intercedes for us before the Throne of Our lord, we should try to repay this with kindness and mercy, especially to those in need. Once again we ask you to remember those in need with your generosity and send in your donations for this holy purpose. Let us repay God's love and daily mercies to us by showing mercy to others.

We thank everyone who continues to support our Memorial Fund with their contributions, and we call upon everyone, who is not yet a member of the Fund to join us in this most worthy cause, which strives to bring comfort and support to the needy worldwide.

May this coming festive season of Christmas bring all of you and your loved ones peace, joy and many blessings in the approaching new year of 2017.

Christ is Born! Glorify Him!

With love in the Incarnated Saviour,

Archpriest Michael Taratuchin, Vice-President of the St.John of Kronstadt Memorial Fund and Rector of the St.John of Kronstadt Memorial church in Utica, New York, USA.

Dear Reverend Fathers, Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

We greet each and every one of you with the coming of Great and Holy Lent, when the Church calls us to prayer, fasting and the contemplation of our spiritual lives. Likewise, these are the days in which we try to be nicer and kinder to our loved ones and especially to all whom we encounter on a daily basis, as we are all made in the image and likeness of Christ.

It is at this time I would like to personally appeal to you all for your help with our St. John of Kronstadt Memorial Fund which has labored since 1954 by bringing some comfort and relief to our Orthodox poor and needy, struggling parishes, monasteries and Orthodox institutions around the world by sending some financial help and relief. This effort began by our first parish rector and vice-president of the Memorial Fund, the ever-memorable Mitered-Archpriest George Pavlusik (+1971) was instituted in imitation of the countless works of mercy of our St. John of Kronstadt, who dedicated his entire life not only in serving God and prayer, but also in the service of all the poor and needy he found all around him in Russia.

Frankly speaking, the response to our recent Christmas appeal was quite dismal to say the least, and it is not that we are trying to make any one feel bad, but if we are to continue this holy and vital task of helping the needy among our faithful, we need your help. We need your help with contributions and donations so that we may help others in greater need than any of us. Please help by sending in whatever alms you are able to so that this work may continue. We will be also happy to pray and commemorate your loved ones and yourselves, living and reposed. Please make your almsgiving to the Memorial Fund as part of your almsgiving and mercy to the poor during this holy season of Great Lent.

We also express our gratitude to all donors during this past year and also to those who continue to support our efforts over the decades.

May Our Saviour spiritually strengthen and uplift you all during this Great and Holy Lent!

With love in Our Lord,

Archpriest Michael Taratuchin, Rector of St. John of Kronstadt Memorial Church in Utica, New York, and Vice-President of the Memorial Fund.

Nativity Appeal of the St.John of Kronstadt Memorial Fund 2018/ 19

Dearly beloved, Reverend Fathers, Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

CHRIST IS BORN! GLORIFY HIM!

Once again we turn to you for your help during this festive season of Our Saviour’s Nativity in helping us aid those in need, our Orthodox brothers and sisters who struggle on a daily basis to satisfy their needs in the face of life’s challenges. It is with your continued help and generosity that this is being accomplished. Below are exerts from letters thanking our Memorial Fund from various countries:

“Again and again, we thank both you and the Fund for your recent help to us…..my wife, Svetlana had an operation in Belgorod, and glory to God, all went well.” 18th October 2018, Kursk, Russia.

“The residents of our nursing home and administrators of our institution wish to sincerely thank you for helping those in need.”  St. Paul’s Society in San Paolo, Brazil, October 2017.

“Our elderly in need…deeply thank you all for all the help from your fund.” Novi Sad, Serbia, December 2017.

There are many such letters from Russia, Ukraine, South America, Asia and other parts of the world in which our Orthodox faithful struggle in parishes, monasteries, convents, orphanages, or simply as individuals needing help.

We ask you to remember the poor and needy with your gift of love, that is your compassion and generosity to the less fortunate. St. John of Kronstadt celebrated the whole cycle of Divine Services including the Divine Liturgy daily because of his great love for God and his neighbor. As we celebrate our Lord’s Nativity, let us offer our gratitude to Our Lord by imitating the good works of our St. John, and be active in helping the needy. Please join our Memorial Fund which is a mere $24 per year membership, and by donating whatever you can.

May Our Incarnated Saviour bless both you and your loved ones this Christmas, and grant you a blessed New Year of 2019!

Christ is Born! Glorify Him!

Archpriest Michael Taratuchin, Vice-President of the St.John of Kronstadt Memorial Fund and Rector of the St.John of Kronstadt Memorial church in Utica, New York, USA.

PASCHAL APPEAL 2019

“Let us arise in the deep dawn and, instead of myrrh, offer a hymn to the Lord, and we shall behold Christ, the Sun of Righteousness, Who causes life to dawn for all.”(Irmos of 5th ode of the Paschal Canon)

Dear Reverend Fathers, Beloved Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

CHRIST IS RISEN!

How are we to offer Our Saviour a hymn as quoted in the irmos verse above? As Christians confessing our faith in Christ, each one of us are called to an active spiritual life, in words and deeds. We see vivid examples of acts of compassion and kindness especially in the life of our Holy Righteous St. John of Kronstadt. We are all called to emulate the saints, not only in their prayerful lives, but also in their deeds of love and compassion.

Our memorial fund not only periodically helps the needy, but also has responded to emergencies which arise. Not too long ago, our fund helped one lady in Serbia whose daughter needed urgent eye surgery, and our fund was able to help with some of the costs involved. Miss M.V. from Novi Sad responded with gratitude: Dear father, and members of the St. John of Kronstadt Memorial Fund, thank you from the bottom of our heart for everything what are you doing for my daughter. God bless you all”.

It is thankful to our Memorial Fund’s existence since 1954 that our less fortunate brothers and sisters in need are able to receive some financial help and relief. This is why we especially appeal to all of you, dearly beloved reverend fathers, brothers and sisters, to help us continue this important task of bringing relief to the needy. Please send your alms and donations. Please become members of our Memorial Fund and help continue this great legacy began by St. John of Kronstadt. It is only with your help, love and compassion that our fund is able to help others in need. The Lord will always reward you a hundred fold for your acts of kindness.

May the approaching Feast of Feasts, Holy Pascha, fill your hearts with great joy!

With much love in our Risen Lord,

 Archpriest Michael Taratuchin,

Vice-President of the St. John of Kronstadt Memorial Fund and

Rector of the St. John of Kronstadt Memorial Church in Utica, New York, USA.

XPUCTOC BOCKPECE!

Nativity Appeal

of the St.John of Kronstadt Memorial Fund 2019/ 2020

Dearly beloved Reverend Fathers, Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

CHRIST IS BORN! GLORIFY HIM!

The St. John of Kronstadt Memorial Fund renders financial support to monasteries, orphanages, various institutions and individuals in need. For example, our Memorial Fund has helped with the following situations: a daughter unable to cover burial costs of her mother in Moscow (Russia), help with urgent medical expenses in Serbia, and financial relief for a struggling parish priest faithfully serving his parishioners in far-away West Africa, as well as a pious hieromonk in the Philippines in Asia building up the Orthodox mission to spread the Word of God to his local people are all part of what our St. John of Kronstadt Memorial Fund is doing for over six decades.

Our Fund continues to support needy monasteries, orphanages, individuals and various institutions around the world, but it is only with your help that we can continue this labor of love inspired by our St. John of Kronstadt well over a century ago.

Again we turn to you to ask your help in making all these endeavors possible to help the Orthodox poor and needy around the world, many of which depend on our Fund to help them during this festive season of Our Lord’s Nativity. Our Lord was born in a dark cave, but he shone as a bright light leading us to salvation. He is the Light of the World, Who daily guides us. Let us return our love for the Lord by also doing good works, which include almsgiving and charity.

We are grateful to all who support our Fund to help those in need. Please help us to continue this holy labor of love. We encourage you to join us, and not only become members of the St. John of Kronstadt Memorial Fund, but donate whatever you are able to help bring relief to the needy.

As we celebrate Our Lord’s Nativity, may His light and grace shine upon you all and your loved ones this Christmas, and may the New Year of 2020 be filled with many blessings for you all!

Christ is Born! Glorify Him!

Archpriest Michael Taratuchin, Vice-President of the St.John of Kronstadt Memorial Fund and Rector of the St.John of Kronstadt Memorial church in Utica, New York, USA.

П а с х а, Г о с п о д н я П а с х а !

PASCHAL APPEAL 2020

“Pascha, the Lord’s Pascha! Through His Resurrection, the Lord has brought us from death to life.”

(From St. Theophan the Recluse, Thoughts for Everyday of the Year.)

Dear Reverend Fathers, Beloved Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

CHRIST IS RISEN!

As we travel the spiritual road of repentance during Great Lent, we are always reminded of the one important goal of our struggles: the attainment of our salvation and eternal life. It is Holy Pascha which emphasizes all our hopes and joys in Our Lord, God and Saviour, Jesus Christ amidst the ongoing calamities and problems faced by the world at large. It is Pascha which fills our hearts with great joy and which gives us a taste of paradise.

How do we prepare for Pascha, besides our praying and fasting? Doing acts of kindness and love, and by also showing mercy and compassion to the needy. We are all familiar with acts of kindness and compassions. How many countless times have we received help when needed, and how many countless times do we receive heavenly intercessions throughout our lives? What can we do to show our gratitude to the Lord? Help Our Memorial Fund of St. John of Kronstadt with your generosity by donating what you can during this holiest time of the year. Your kind help to our Fund enables us to continue the holy work began by our forebears in 1954 through the inspiration of our St. John of Kronstadt, who spent his 53 years of priestly service bringing countless thousands to salvation and also by helping many in material need. We feel that continued inspiration by the decades of laborers in the Vineyard of Christ such as Archbishop Averky (+1976), Metropolitan Laurus (+2008) and Mitred-Archpriest George Pavlusik (+1971), to name a few, who put their hearts into our fund. We appeal to you all to help us continue this endeavor. Our gratitude is expressed to all donors, past and present.

May the approaching Feast of Feasts, Holy Pascha, fill your hearts with great joy!

With much love in our Risen Lord,

 Archpriest Michael Taratuchin,

Vice-President of the St. John of Kronstadt Memorial Fund and

Rector of the St. John of Kronstadt Memorial Church in Utica, New York, USA.

 Nativity Appeal

of the St. John of Kronstadt Memorial Fund, 2020/2021

 Troparion

Thy Nativity, O Christ our God, shined the light of knowledge upon the world: for therein they that adored the stars were taught by a star to worship Thee, the Sun of righteousness, and to know Thee, the Dayspring from on high: O Lord, glory be to Thee.

Dearly beloved Reverend Fathers, Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

CHRIST IS BORN! GLORIFY HIM!

The lasting legacy of our Holy Righteous St. John of Kronstadt is one of being in continual communion with our Lord God through prayer, both in church and at home, and in fact where ever he was present. The gaze of St. John was always towards the Heavenly Kingdom. This is reflected in his life of prayer and in his care for the souls of everyone he encountered, people of all social classes and from all walks of life. He was a source of comfort and consolation for anyone in suffering or struggling with material or spiritual poverty. Perhaps this is why he used to say that when we enter a church, we leave the world of vanity behind us to be in the presence of heavenly glory of Christ Our God. It is his very life which inspires our Memorial Fund in his name to continue the holy work of helping those less fortunate than ourselves and those in need, whether they are Orthodox Christian individuals, monasteries, parishes, orphanages or any Orthodox institution struggling to serve God and keep up with endless expenses needed for survival.

As we are to begin the Nativity Fast which is geared to direct our gaze towards our salvation and contemplation of the great miracle of Our Saviour’s incarnation which we celebrate with His birth on Christmas Day, let us also become active in the works of mercy and benevolence by helping those in need. Let us be thankful for all the Lord gives us on a daily basis throughout our lives by giving of ourselves and from our hearts to the poor and needy as St. John of Kronstadt did throughout his priestly ministry. We call upon you, dearly beloved, to share this work by joining our Memorial Fund as members and/or as cheerful donors. The Lord will bless you many times over for acts of kindness and mercy. Likewise, we express our profound gratitude for all of you who have donated to the Memorial Fund, and for all of you who offer your continued support.

As we all prepare to celebrate Christmas, despite the calamities such as the Corona virus pandemic and other global problems, let us do so as the Saints did before us. With faith and joy in the Lord!

May the festive days of Our Lord’s Nativity and the coming new year of 2021 bring you and your loved ones many blessings!

Christ is Born! Glorify Him!

With much love in Our Incarnated Saviour,

Archpriest Michael Taratuchin, Vice-President of the St. John of Kronstadt Memorial Fund and Rector of the St. John of Kronstadt Memorial church in Utica, New York, USA.

PASCHAL APPEAL 2021

“Though Thou did descend into the grave, O Immortal One, yet did Thou destroy the power of hell, and did rise again as a conqueror, O Christ our Lord, saying to the myrrh-bearing women, rejoice! And giving peace to Thine Apostles, and offering Resurrection to the fallen.” Kontakion of Pascha, Tone 8..

Dear Reverend Fathers, Beloved Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

CHRIST IS RISEN!

During the solemn and holy time of Great Lent, we are reminded of Our Saviour’s promise of hope for eternal life for us if we take up our Cross and follow Him. On the 3rd Sunday of Great Lent, the Adoration of the Precious Cross, the troparion, :Before Thy Cross, we bow down, O Master, and GLORIFY THY HOLY RESURRECTION’,  emphasize the purpose of our Lenten journey, which is to arrive at the joy of Holy Pascha and partake of that never ending joy which we all experience on Pascha night. It is Pascha which gives us a great sense of purpose in which we strive to serve Our Lord God within our various roles and capacities as Orthodox Christians. Part of our Christian sense of duty is to be kind and to be charitable to those of our brothers and sisters in need, the lonely, the afflicted and the poor and needy. No matter what turmoil our world is going through with the pandemic and various global challenges faced by all, the mission of the Church and our Christian duties remain unchanged. As each of us carry our various crosses and struggles, let us remember the shining example of our St. John of Kronstadt who helped those less fortunate to carry their heavy crosses of poverty and suffering in various forms. With compassion and love, let us all strive to make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate than ourselves by taking an active part in our Memorial Fund through membership and by donating what we can to help us help those in need.  We appeal to you, dearly beloved, to help donate what you can towards this holy work inspired by our St. John of Kronstadt.

We express our profound gratitude to all our donors and supporters over the years. May God bless you all with many years and many blessings!

May Our Risen Saviour  bless you and your loved ones with a spiritually profitable Great Lent, Holy Week and a most joyous, bright and radiant Pascha!

With much love in our Risen Lord,

 Archpriest Michael Taratuchin,

Vice-President of the St. John of Kronstadt Memorial Fund and

Rector of the St. John of Kronstadt Memorial Church in Utica, New York, USA.

It is with limitless love that Our Saviour assumed human nature to bring us close to Him so that we may come to
understand the importance of the gift of eternal life offered to each and every one of us. As such, we come to truly
understand the Image and Likeness of God that we are called to see in every human being whom we encounter.
This divine love of God for us is likewise shared with others through the Church so that others may come to know
the Lord God and attain salvation. It is by this very concept of God’s love for all people and our mutual calling
to love one another that our St. John of Kronstadt based his priestly life and service to others upon. Likewise, our
celebration of the Nativity of Our Lord, God and Saviour Jesus Christ reminds us of this love for our neighbors
as a time of spiritual renewal during the Nativity Fast culminating in the joyous celebration of Christmas Day,
when we not only celebrate this festive day in church and with our loved ones, but with all whom we encounter.
Our thoughts and prayers at this time go out to the poor, the needy and those who are less fortunate than us, in
need of comfort and consolation. This is the reason for the existence of our Memorial fund.
We appeal to you all, dearly beloved, to join us in our holy task of helping to bring consolation to the less fortunate
and needy by taking an active part in our St. John of Kronstadt Memorial Fund, by not only donating what you
can, but also by going a step further and become an active member of our fund. Please tell others about our fund
and its activities of benevolence and love.
We would also like to express our deep appreciation and gratitude to everyone who has supported our fund with
generosity and continued support. May Our Lord bless you all a hundred fold for your kindness and concern for
the needy! May this coming Nativity of Our Lord bring all of you and all your loved ones, immeasurable joy, and
may the coming year of 2022 be filled with many blessings from Our Lord!

PASCHAL APPEAL 2022

“Thou didst descend into the nethermost parts of the earth, and didst shatter the eternal bars that held the fettered, o Christ, and on the third day, like Jonah from the whale, Thou didst arise from the tomb.” (Irmos of the 6th Ode of the Paschal Canon)

Dear Reverend Fathers, Beloved Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

CHRIST IS RISEN! During these troubled times around the world, from schismatic divisions and fraternal warfare between Russia and the Ukraine, not to mention the surmounting global problems facing us these days, one may feel a sense of being fettered and bound by the dark powers of the devil. There is only one power that can free all of us from these conflicts and problems, and that is Our Lord, God and Saviour, Jesus Christ. It is the 6th Ode of the Paschal canon that reminds us of the almighty power of our Lord God which grants us real freedom from evil and leads us to eternal life. Our St. John of Kronstadt also lived through troubled times, and it was his deep faith in Christ that not only got him through any troubled times, but also gave him the grace and spiritual strength to help all those who turned to him for help. We know from his life that he was able to accomplish great deeds by bringing many to Christ, and even today his heavenly prayers and intercessions are very strong. As we go through the soul-saving time of Great Lent in our journey to Holy Pascha, let us all remember that Christ is the very source of strength and faith. With this in mind, we ask you to continue your help and generous support of our St. John of Kronstadt Memorial Fund to help all those of our Orthodox brothers and sisters in need, especially in light of current events affecting many of our Orthodox faithful in need. Please consider becoming active members of or Memorial Fund to continue our important work in the same spirit as our St. John of Kronstadt. Our profound gratitude is expressed to all who have donated to the Fund and continue with their support and generosity over the years.

May these holy and solemn days of Great Lent lead you and your loved ones to the Bright and Radiant Feast of Feasts, Holy Pascha!

CHRIST IS RISEN!

With much love in our Risen Lord,

 Archpriest Michael Taratuchin,

Vice-President of the St. John of Kronstadt Memorial Fund and

Rector of the St. John of Kronstadt Memorial Church in Utica, New York, USA.

Irmos in Slavonic.

 NATIVITY APPEAL

of the St. John of Kronstadt Memorial Fund, 2022/2023

A star showed plainly to the Magi the Word that was before the sun, Who has come to make transgression cease. They saw Thee wrapped in swaddling clothes, within a poor and lowly cave, Who sharest all our sufferings, and in joy they gazed upon Thee, Who art at once both man and Lord. (Verse from Ode I of the canon to the Nativity)

Dearly Beloved Reverend Fathers, Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

CHRIST IS BORN! GLORIFY HIM!

Perhaps one of the most important realizations we experience at Christmas is the fact that Our Lord, God, and Saviour, Jesus Christ, Who became the God-Man by His incarnation, identifies with us in our struggles and sufferings that we experience during our lives on earth, as He, too, according to the verse above from the first ode of Nativity matins, shared in our sufferings to redeem us from sin and death to bring us into the joy of everlasting life in the Kingdom of Heaven. By being able to identify and feel the sufferings of others and to desire to help console and comfort someone in their suffering is an act of empathy and compassion which derive from God’s love for us all. It is with this love that our St. John of Kronstadt reached out to countless hundreds of thousands of people in need of his prayers and ministry to help bring people to salvation. This is a very important goal of our Memorial Fund which seeks to emulate our Holy Father John of Kronstadt over the last 68 years or so. Our world at large is very much consumed in various conflicts which are engulfing humanity in a sea of suffering and despair, yet it is only Our Saviour Who offers everyone real hope in salvation. With this in mind, we ask and appeal to you all to join us in our efforts to bring comfort and some material consolation to our Orthodox poor and needy around the world by becoming active donors and participants in our St. John of Kronstadt Memorial Fund. It is through your generosity and help that our Memorial Fund is able to continue this much needed holy work. May God bless you for your concern and kindness!

We would also like to express our deep appreciation and gratitude to everyone who has supported our fund with generosity and continued support. May this coming Nativity of Our Lord bring all of you and all your loved ones, immeasurable joy, and may the coming year of 2023 be filled with many blessings from Our Lord!

Christ is Born! Glorify Him!

With much love in Our Incarnated Saviour,

Archpriest Michael Taratuchin, Vice-President of the St. John of Kronstadt Memorial Fund and

Rector of the St. John of Kronstadt Memorial church in Utica, New York, USA.

PASCHAL APPEAL 2023

“Is there anyone who is a devout lover of God? Let them enjoy this beautiful bright festival! Is there anyone who is a grateful servant? Let them rejoice and enter into the joy of their Lord! …Christ is Risen, and you, O death, are annihilated! Christ is Risen, and the evil ones are cast down! Christ is Risen, and the angels rejoice! Christ is Risen, and life is liberated! Christ is Risen, and the tomb is emptied of its dead:” (From the Paschal Sermon of St. John Chrysostom.)

Dear Reverend Fathers, Beloved Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

CHRIST IS RISEN!

How powerful, wonderful, and triumphant are the words above spoken by our father among the saints, St. John Chrysostom! We hear them each year towards the end of Paschal matins, and each year they proclaim Christ’s victory over death and hades, filling us with spiritual inspiration and joy during our paschal celebrations. St. John in fact calls all of us to the joy of Our Lord’s Day wherever we are and whoever we may be. The saints truly understood this great joy of Pascha, and it has been said that whenever our St. John of Kronstadt and St. John of Shanghai and San Francisco greeted the faithful with “Christ is Risen”, one had the feeling that they themselves were so filled with paschal joy that it was as if they themselves had seen the Risen Lord. The radiant joy of Pascha is so great that we cannot help but share this wonderful joy with all those around us. Having this in mind, let us share in this approaching paschal joy by remembering those less fortunate than ourselves, those struggling in poverty and in great need. Let us remember our St. John of Kronstadt who often brought consolation and comfort to families and individuals in great need, and let us all imitate his kind works of benevolence and kindness by helping others in need through our St. John of Kronstadt Memorial Fund.

We appeal to all to help us help others with your active participation by not only contributing what you can, but also by becoming members of our Memorial Fund which is active since 1954. Help us by preserving this holy legacy which stives to follow the spiritual ideals of St. John. With your help and kindness, we can help spread that paschal joy to the less fortunate and needy.

We express our profound gratitude to our donors and supporters who continue in their kind contributions over the years. May Our Risen Lord reward you all graciously!

May Our Risen Saviour bless you and your loved ones with a spiritually profitable Great Lent, Holy Week and a most joyous, bright and radiant Pascha!

CHRIST IS RISEN!

With much love in our Risen Lord,

 Archpriest Michael Taratuchin,

Vice-President of the St. John of Kronstadt Memorial Fund and

Rector of the St. John of Kronstadt Memorial Church in Utica, New York, USA.
